Monster Jam Fun!

Saturday night was the BIG night around here for one special little man.  It was the night Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam returned to Cincinnati.  It was so much fun for our 3 little ones!

The evening started out well.  We found fantastic parking (hello $5 instead of $15!), the walk to the Paul Brown Stadium was shady, and the heat was tolerable.  It was hot though!  It was around 100-120 with the heat index.  Woohoo hot weather...not so much.  After a slight mix-up with our tickets and the resolution of better tickets in my hand, we headed inside.

We found our seats and the action began!  It was so much fun, as I've stated before.  Our seats were wonderful!  Ren was in monster truck love.  From the qualifying to the free style he didn't stop standing, jumping or cheering the whole time!  The girls were really into the event too.  That is, until A realized exactly how close our seats were...

We were so close that when a truck stirred up some dirt, we felt it.  Literally.  A's drink had a nice brown layer to it at one point.  This is where I would like to thank the concession people at Paul Brown.  A little explanation and they refilled it for no charge.  Thank goodness though, since as mentioned about the heat was a little intense and they were charging $5 for a bottle of water.  Rip off?  Maybe not for a normal event, but there were kids there and I personally think they could have charged a little less, just saying.

Anyway, I want to share some pictures of the event.  We truly did have a great time as a family and love this event.  Ren is in his element, the girls are having fun and Chuck and I are enjoying watching our kids have fun.  It's a good way to spend some family time!  I would recommend taking anyone to this, but a love of cars, trucks, monster trucks makes it so much better!  There is nothing more exciting than watching your kids eyes light up when one of their favorite trucks revved up their engine.  Nothing more shocking than watching a monster truck jump to huge heights only to come down, bounce and keep going.





I think Ren's favorite part is watching for a truck to roll over, and he got to see several roll overs!  He is such an enthusiastic little man when it comes to Monster Trucks.  He knew the names of his favorites and pointed them out.  His favorites are Avenger, The U.S. Air Force Afterburner and his absolute favorite is The Grave Digger!  Oh boy, how he adores Grave Digger!



All together it was a fun way to spend a Saturday night!  I really hope that you get the chance to check out a Monster Truck or to go and see Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam.  It truly was the "Rumble in the Jungle" we were hoping for!

You read that right.  You see, around the Cincinnati area "the jungle" is a reference to Paul Brown Stadium.  So what's all the "rumble" about? Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam is coming to soar, fly and delight!  Have you ever been to a monster truck show before?  Last year was my first year to attend and we loved it.  Let me rephrase that.  Ren loved it so much he HAD to have a monster truck to bring home.  Long story short, he is know the proud owner of around 5 or 6 monster trucks, all from the Hot Wheels Monster Jam line of vehicles.  They look just like the ones seen in the show!  As a matter of fact, we have the two pictured below.  He loves them.



I know you may be wondering why I'm writing a post about Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam right?  Well, the reason is simple.  I *may* have a giveaway.  Yup, you read that one correctly.  I have a 4-pack of tickets to the show at Paul Brown Stadium!  How exciting is that?  I know I'm excited to go, yet we're keeping it a secret from the kids.  This is one surprise I can't wait to let them in on!

Alright, you can go back to your normal voice now ;-D.  For those of you who are lovers or have kids who are lovers of monster trucks, this is a don't miss event in the Dayton area!  We attended the Monster Jam show last year in Cincinnati and Ren still talks about it.  He's also acquired quite a few Monster Jam Hot Wheels since then.  He know all the trucks names, but is very partial to the Grave Digger.  As a Mom, I can honestly say I expected the show to be loud, loud, and louder.  It was.  Yet it was also so. much. fun!  I had a hard time believing how high those huge trucks could fly!  Below are a few of the pictures from Monster Jam so you can get the idea, if you've never been to a show.

Now for the details. 

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18.  Saturday, March 19 shows will begin at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices start at $15 for adults and $8 for kids (ages 2-12).  Ticket prices will increase by $3 the day of the show.

Monster Jam!

Saturday night, after Ren's birthday party, we all got into the "Swagger Wagon".  (yes, we have a Sienna, no, it's not a new one.  It's well over 10 years old!  We love it just the same and crack up at the Sienna commercials).  We were on a mission.  A mission to go see some Monster Trucks!  Monster Jam headed to Cincinnati for Saturday night to "rumble in the jungle" (That's a Bengals reference for those not in the Cinci area).

I'll be honest, I was a little naive about Monster Trucks.  I have 3 brothers, but they somehow missed the whole monster truck phase.  I was thinking little trucks with huge tires.  Yes, that was the case, but oh my.  It was much more than just trucks and tires.  There was jumping off of ramps.  Crushing cars.  Crushing a large Winnebago with a picture of a coney on the side (another Cinci reference).  The roar of the engines was loud!  The height those heavy trucks could achieve was mind-boggling.  The roll-overs and tire losses made me gasp.  All in all, the kids LOVED it!  Hubs and I really enjoyed it as well.  This was something fun for the whole family. 

The point of the night I really liked the most though, was when one of the drivers was interviewed and he said he was dedicating his ride to a sick child at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  He had the opportunity to meet this particular child and thought it would be wonderful to dedicate his ride to the child.  My Mom heartstrings were momentarily caught and right there in the middle of all the chaos that is a monster truck show I thanked God for the 3 blessings in my life. 

All together, we had a fabulous time!  The pictures below are of the fun we had.  Well, hubs time could have been a little bit better I assume.  Towards the end, CS had a slight *ahem* accident from her diaper.  It may have run down his leg and gotten on his shorts.  You can tell his *slight* frustration in the picture below....me, well, I cracked up.  Things like this happen to him all the time!
