The title may be spot on a slight exaggeration, but that's what it has felt like lately. I'm not going to mince around here. I grew up in Beavis and Butthead's heyday. To say that my vocabulary wasn't influenced by them would be an out-and-out lie. It was, and continues to be, sadly. Why am I admitting this? It seems that A and CS have been listening to me. A little too much for my comfort. Now, not that it's necessarily a BAD thing that they heard me say these things and repeated them. What bugs me is that they used them in the correct context! So, without further ado, here are my two cute and short stories. All starring words or phrases loving taught to them by me. All thanks to Beavis and Butthead!
**The other day I was in the kitchen scrubbing my fingers to the bone checking my email when I overhear this conversation. A says to Ren "would you please stop bugging me". Ren replies "no". A turns on her heel and shouts "oh, would you stop being a butthead Beavis". I stopped. It's one of those moments where I was torn. We don't call names in our house so she should be reminded and apologize to her brother. Yet, for some strange reason, I couldn't stop laughing! I was laughing because she *may* have heard me recently say that to hubs. I said it ONE TIME and she remembered it. Lesson learned. It only takes once for them to remember it.
**This one involves CS, but first I must give you the back story. I make my grocery list during naptime. It's honestly a rare thing that I'm not interrupted by someone waking up. No problem, I usually just put it away until a later date. The thing is, when I'm pulling out a coupon I will repeat, out loud, what it is I'm looking for. For toilet paper, I *may* be known to say (in the worst impersonation of Beavis ever) "we need tp for our bungholes". It's not the best thing to say, BUT, I give myself a giggle at my complete lameness. It gets me through the task. Never, ever, not even in my wildest dreams, could I have anticipated what happened on Sunday. CS and I were headed out shopping. I said "CS, we need to stop at CVS to get some paper towels and tp on our trip out. Can you remember tp?". In her little 2 1/2 year old innocent voice, she looks right at me and says "for our bungholes?" I KID YOU NOT!! I almost peed myself I was laughing so hard! I know it's not a nice thing for her to know. I don't need the lectures. At the time, it was hilarious. Guess what this Mom won't be repeating next time she's clipping coupons?
So, I'd like to give Beavis and Butthead a big shout out! Thanks for forever adding words to my vocabulary, so that I may pass them on to my kids (even if they aren't necessarily appropriate). Appreciate it....
