Mommy Confessions ~~Zits Happen?!? Help!

When I was a teen, I was one of THOSE teens.  You know they type, the rarely had a pimple and if they did it was earth shattering.  Yeah, that was me.  I made it all the way through my teen years with fewer zits than most people had in a week.  I considered myself lucky and gave the kudos to Clinique and their awesome 3-step program

Recently though, I'm getting my paybacks.  I have acne.  I mean 15 year old kid acne.  I don't like it, not one single bit.  I also have no idea what to do about it.  I have long ago stopped the 3-step program because well, I have other things to spend the money on.  Now, I think I'm paying the price.  For a while I thought it was just a "hormones" thing.  Now, I'm not so sure.  My chin and forehead are terrible looking.  If I was in my early 20's I might not be so upset about it.  People, I'm 33!!  This is just nuts...

So, my question is...Have you ever dealt with this issue?  If so, what did you use to help?  Even if you don't deal with adult acne, any suggestions will help.  I'm not all about my looks, but I'd like to NOT look like the pics in a high school yearbook.  Thanks!

  1. First, are you drinking a lot of water? If not, that will cause break-outs. (I can tell when Jason hasn't drank enough water because he breaks out pretty bad.) Also, what are you using to wash your face? I have rosacea and if I'm not gentle to my skin, I break out really bad.

Just a suggestion, I'm still selling Mary Kay and place an order about twice a year. I'm getting ready to place an order in the next month and I always give 40% off. (Know that low discount means little customer service. I'm not up on the latest products and colors, but can definitely recommend skin care.) If you want to try some good skin care at a reasonable price, let me know.

  2. Thanks Cyndi! I have been drinking all kinds of water! I cut out caffeine a while back a subbed in water (plus I track it on MyFitnessPal..lol). Right now, I went and got a Biore face wash and wash it in the shower in the morning and before bed at night. I'm hoping it works, but if not, I'll look you up for some MK!

  3. I recently went through something similar...at 37! I have oily skin, so I did several things to figure out what caused the sudden breakout. I stopped using all makeup to eliminate any questions there. After an inventory of the cleansing products I had been using, I had to again make time for the twice a week mask. Going back to a more complex daily routine (2x cleaning, astringent, moisturizer), increasing water intake, eliminating fried foods and carbonated drinks helped. Hormonal changes might have played a role, too. That "phase" is now over and I'm keeping with the routine that works!

  4. Thank you so much for the help! I'm hoping it's just a phase and will pass, but for now, I have the pimples of a teen with the face of a 30-something Mom...lol. I'm thinking I'm going to go back to my old routine (which is exactly like yours, minus the 2x's weekly mask...lol).
