10 Reasons to Love the Rain

We have a lot of rain around our part of SW Ohio lately.  So much so that when the sun peaks out it could almost burn your eyes out.  Alright, I may have been exaggerating just a bit on the last sentence, but you get the idea.  I thought it might be a good thing to look at the rain in a positive light.  Trust me, I'm quite tired of rain myself, yet when I think about the good things it brings than it really isn't so bad.  Or at least, that's what I'm telling myself :-)

  1. The whole area is green!  I mean really green.  Trees, flowers, yards, fields (those not under water) are all lush and green.  If you squint just right, you might be able to make yourself believe your in someplace awesome, like Ireland.

  2. No mowing.  Who wants to push a mower through mud and muck anyhow?  Not me.  I'm liking this brief rain soaked vacation from mowing the hill in my yard!

  3. Family time.  Yes, I realize most people want their kids outside at this point in the year.  I'm enjoying spending more time with the kids though.

  4. Finding cool indoor things to do.  Who says you can only color eggs on Easter?  What about all those museums you wanted to visit in the winter, but couldn't because of snow?

  5. Spring cleaning is put on hold or accelerated, you pick.  I know at my house it's getting done a lot faster with extra helpers indoors.

  6. At least at my house, the pitter patter of rain drops on the roof helps my 3 fall asleep that much faster.  You know the song by The Judds, Rockin' to the rhythm of the raaaaiiiiinnnn.

  7. Puddles.  The kids and I have had a ball jumping in puddles!  CS gets so excited when she can put on her rain boots to run errands with me.  She knows she gets to jump into puddles where ever we go.  It's not about getting wet or ruining clothes, it's about the experience.

  8. Rainbows.  Now, this is taking into consideration that the sun appears after the rain ends.  I saw a double rainbow last week that was beautiful!

  9. Books.  I don't know about you, but the rain makes me want to curl up with a good novel and read!  When it's sunny I want to be outside.  Rains come and reading is the what I'm doing!

  10. It's rain!  I know that may seem a bit odd, but without rain we wouldn't have water.  Without water, well, you know....gotta love the rain!

My list may be corny, but like I said, I'm trying to see the positive in all. this. rain!
