Transformation Tuesday ~~Random bits of whatever

So, here are the stats:

Beginning weight: 232

Current weight: 216.1 (I'm adding in the .1 because darn it, I've been at 216 for a month or so and it's making me crazy!)

Here are my random thoughts for the week.  Some concerning food.  Some family.  Some just aggravation, you've been warned.

  • I am lacking motivation in a big way these days.  I really don't know what's gotten into me.  I'm still heading to the gym on a regular basis, but it's getting harder and harder to go.  I don't like feeling like this.  Oh, did I mention that I am super tired.  Like I sit on the couch and randomly fall asleep within 5 minutes tired.  Yeah.  I'm not sure what's up with that either.  Unfortunately I can't call the doc and make an appointment to see what's up until August.  With the new job our benefits don't start until August 1 and I'm just too cheap to pay the Cobra price.  So, I've been sucking it up and going to bed a couple hours earlier each night.  I'm hoping that it's a lack of sleep and overdoing it that is causing this.

  • I have been craving red meat lately.  Which is very odd for me.  I'm a chicken, chicken, chicken and occasionally pork person.  Oh, I DO love my hamburgers don't get me wrong.  However, I've never been a huge fan of red meat.  Grilled burgers in the summer and a good steak every 6 months or so and I'm good.  For the past two weeks I can't get enough red meat.  I've made tacos, grilled steaks several times and grilled so many burgers that it's crazy.  It's weird.  I'm also a person who believes in listening to my body and giving it what it needs, within reason.

  • In almost a week and a half I'm going to run in my first 5k.  The Color Me Rad 5k in Cincinnati.  I'm so nervous, excited and anxious all rolled into one.  I know I'm not a fast runner and I may never run a marathon, but darn it, I don't want to come in last place either.  So, this week I'm focusing on distance.  The most I've run at one given time is 2 miles.  Yikes!  I've been told by my friend Cortney (who has a pretty awesome blog and you should totally check it out!) that there are going to be parts to walk.  That was a load off of my mind.  I just don't want to be last.  I'd like to finish middle of the pack, but I'm also realistic.  That probably isn't going to happen.  I run so slowly.  The only thing that gives me a chuckle in all of this is that when I do finish, I'll have accomplished something that most people of my size wouldn't even consider.  Go me right?

  1. Sounds like you might be anemic. That'll make you tired, lack of energy and everything you've described. Obviously, you'd have to get a blood test and diagnosed by a doctor, but you can get iron pills OTC and see if that helps? Also, you can call to make your doctors appointment now did the beginning of Aug so you get in right away. That way you dont have to wait longer. Feel better my friend! :)

  2. I was going to mention the same thing - lack of iron. I've been there - tired and lack of energy. I have heard that craving red meat has to do with low iron levels as well (not sure how true that is though). Hope you get it figured out. Good luck in your first 5K! I'm sure you will do fine. There are normally people that do absolutely no running in them so I doubt you will be anywhere near last. =)

    My weight loss journey seems to be on track for the time being. I actually have been writing about it but haven't got anything posted on my blog yet since I have some cosmetic surgery to do it.
